Can one get new I94 after re-enter US from CANADA?

Hi All,

I am working in US on L1B where both Visa and I94 will expire in August 2013.But I want to extend my stay in US.I just heard if one go to CANADA on a visitor visa and when re-enters the US then

there are chances of getting new I94 with some new date.Please let me know if anybody have any experience in this.

When you go to Canada or Mexico and return to US within 30 days, they won’t even take your I-94 in the last port of US.
