can i travel with old visa (expiring in 3 months) and approved H1B extn document

Hi All,

I currently hold a visa that is valid until mid-April 2018. I may have to travel for business reasons and expected to be back by end of JAN 2018. I have the approved H1B renewal document valid till 2021.

Below are my questions.

  1. Should I do a stamping before I reenter USA?

  2. If I don’t have to do stamping and at the Port of entry, will I get the i94 date considering my old visa or the new approval petition?
