Can I join new company as my H1B transfer application has been submitted?

Hi All, I am in India, working with X company and I got offer from US company Y. And Today, I came to know that my H1B Transfer application have been submitted to the Service Center and got the Receipt Number. So my questions are

  1. On the basis of this transfer receipt, Can I resign from current company X?

  2. Can I join company Y as my H1B transfer application has been submitted?

it is your decision to make. But with transfer receipt you can resign. I personally have resigned and joined another company with just the notice.2. Can I join company Y as my H1B transfer application has been submitted?

Yes, legally you can start working with company Y with just the transfer application receipt notice. But it carries its own risk. If the company Y is a consultancy, I would recommend that you wait for approval as you may never know what happens with consultancies. If it is a full time position with a US company, risk of your H1 transfer getting denied is very low.
