B2 Visa, given 221g for Administrative Processing & additional docments

Me & my family attended an interview for B2 Visa on June 6, 2013 (application made in Guyana) . We were given two (2) white sheets marked 221(g) 1 - For Administrative Processing & 1-For Additional Documents.
We have to schedule an appointment after we gathered all documents & return to the Embassy with original documents & our passport on the Scheduled day.

What I want to know is:

  1. Do they keep all original documents and then send it to Washington DC for . dministrative Processing?
    or
  2. Do the just veryfy the information, hand us back the documents then have our application be processes at Washington DC?

Please help me understand. Thank you!

  1. Usually they return original documents except for passport

  2. Yes, that’s the usual process. Carry copies of original documents as well, which can be submitted to the officer.
