Can I travel to US on B1 for tourism for one month while my L1A is in process (exactly at the point where I submitted my docs and waiting for my petition). Please advise.
This should be ok if the intention is really to travel for tourism and return back.
Yes, its definitely on tourism to meet some family member. I saw on some article mentioned that traveling on B1 during L1 A visa process is not advisable.

It clearly states anything that might be construed as work. So as I mentioned earlier, if your intention is purely tourism/visit to meet family, should be no issue. You are the best judge to decide whether to travel or not.
