Hi,

I am seeking guidance on renewing my wife’s Employment Authorization Document (EAD) under the following circumstances:

  • Her most recent EAD expired in February 2025
  • She traveled to India in March 2024,
  • She is planning to return to the U.S. in September 2025.

Given this situation, I have a few questions:

  1. Can we directly file Form I-765 to renew her EAD upon her return to the U.S.?
  2. Would we need to restart the entire EAD process from scratch, including biometrics, if too much time has passed since expiration?

Please advise on the appropriate next steps based on this scenario. I want to ensure we follow the correct process and timeline for her EAD renewal and avoid delays in work authorization.
