After OPT and before getting H1 what should be my status?

Hi I am going to finish my opt in may 2013 I applied for H1 2014 if I didn’t got result before the expiration of my OPT what is the procedure of being in status?

Is there any gap period to get in to status like joining into school or do i have to cross the country and get the status?

You ll be counted for CAP GAP - You have to show needed docs to DSO. CAP-GAP will be valid till Oct 1 and you can not travel outside US in this period.
