48 months drop box eligibility

My h4 stamping expired on 10 Jan 2021 . I am traveling to india in a week . I could not get a slot yet for Dropbox and looking at the trend I may not get one before dec 31 .

If the 48 month rule expires on Dec 31 2021 : Should I appear for in person interview starting Jan Or still Dropbox . Pls suggest

If the current guidelines for 48 months expires , you will need interview appointment in visa expired for more than 12 months.
