What exactly is premium processing?

Hi Guys
Mine is a transfer case, My employer file my H1 in premium processing on the 16th of April, But it is still in initial review, isn’t the USCIS supposed to take a decision in two weeks ? Or is my understanding about this incorrect ? Can someone please explain ?

I think, if it is in Premium Processing, then USCIS should respond within 15 calendar days. I am not sure, if they have delayed because of too much workload due to new H1B’s in April. (Someone please comment on this) Please check if it is advisable to call USCIS by your employer. Thank you.

I submitted new h1b application in April too, the USCIS official website said to work on premium processing no later than 4 28th, today is the 15th day, my case is still in acceptance. I heard that if they fail to response within 15 days, you can ask for refund of the premium processing fee. But I guess no one really wants the money back, but to get the approval ASAP.

Yeah Piglet & Prasad thx for responding, guess there are lots of people like us in the same boat, could only wait & watch at this point. Have asked my employer to ask the attorney to call USCIS, I ‘doubt’ if that will materialize !

Please let us know once you receive any further updates on your case. That will give us idea about how much delay to expect. Which USCIS office?
