I am living in India and had gotten offers from 2 US companies in Mar 2013. To increase my chances of getting through the lottery, I asked both companies to file for a fresh H1B. Both got selected through the lottery. Company A’s H1B is approved and Company B’s H1B is in “RFE Response review”. Company B is now asking me to visit their US offices on B1/B2 visa for a couple of weeks.
Is it safe to travel to USA while H1B is being processed?

If you have valid reasons to travel, then you can do this. If it is for 2 weeks, then it should be fine. Do you have to appear for B-1/2 visa stamping?

I am working for Company B from India as a contractor. So, I would be doing meetings with team members to ramp myself up.
No, I don’t have any valid visa stamps currently. So, I would have to apply for one.
It should be fine. Carry all the documents for B-1/2 interview and then return within the allowed time. Once you return from US, appear for H-1 visa stamping through A or B.
