Hi
My Full name is VEERA VENKATA SATISH KUMAR - KANISETTI as per the passport. Today when I applied for SSN the person in that office made it as VEERA KANISETTI he said system is not accepting full name.
Finally my name in SSN is going to be VEERA KANISETTI, Do I need to proceed with this name further in USA.
Could anyone please let me know whether there would be any problem regardin this.
Regards,
Satish K
This should be fine. Only so many characters can be displayed on the SSN card, but rest assured they would have captured your name in the system as per your passport.
Hi Catapult, thanks for the answer, if i need to enter my name and ssn number in any other applications from now what should i enter.
Just veera kanisetti is enough.
If your given name at birth was Satish (Kanisetti), this information must be given to SSN office with a change request. Your bank accounts, driver’s license etc should show you as Satish with last name. Our Indian name abbreviations that includes village, city, district etc cause a lot confusion in the US. The change is easy.
All the best

hello Sandeep, thanks for your information.
As I said, my first name is VEERA VENKATA SATISH KUMAR in passport, all my educational documents are like V V S KUMAR (due to length constraint).
Is it possible to have V V S Kumar as my first name in SSN also with a change request. When I asked person at SSN office he told they wont accept letters like V V S and as Satish is third word they wont accept Satish also it seems.
Please suggest me. Thanks in advance…
Wherever possible enter your name as per passport, and wherever not, you can go with what’s printed on your SSN card.
Thanks Catapult, How come we know whether they have captured my complete name in the system or not.
