Spouse name is different in Passport

Hi All,

I am sponsoring for my parents for their B2 Visa. In my mother passport, spouse name is mentioned as ‘Thandapani’ instead of ‘Dhandapani’. The first character is different. They will be submitting their DS-160 this week.

Will it impact their visa interview. ? for safety, Do we ask them to get affidavit. Can someone explain about this clearly. how to handle this stituation.

This is urgent. Much appreciated.

Since its the last name and also its a very first letter, an affidavit may not be a fool-proof solution. I would suggest to get the passport name fixed before proceeding. If not, there may be a sizable issue(as the passinger may need to travel with many airports stop over and the issue could be raised at any point and could be refused to board due to identity issue).
