RFE - Employer invalid e-verification

Hi - I applied for OPT extenstion, while I was with my previous employer, the e-verification number I was given by previous employer was not valid, now, I changed the employer, where I recently got RFE. I am trying to reach my old employer, however being a small organization, I am not getting proper response, can I apply for the extension with my current employer e-verification number, or would it be an issue, if there is a conflict between the previous and current employers. Your help is much appreciated.

I think you can apply w/ new employer if they are e-verified. You should also talk to your DSO about it. They may provide more clarity.
