OPT after second Masters

Hi,

I did M.S. in Electrical engineering from a U.S. university. I did not apply for OPT after masters. I enrolled for PhD in the same university but now i am thinking of converting it into second Masters. Will i be eligible for Masters OPT now as i did not apply for it earlier?

Thanks for your reply. I did use 6 months of my PhD CPT, would that have any impact on my eligibility for OPT after second Masters.

Talk to your DSO as soon as you can – it can be difficult to get a second masters OPT, as this link shows http://redbus2us.com/after-second-masters-ms-mba-in-usa-do-you-get-opt-for-one-year/ - but, as the area is complicated you should speak to the adviser so you can make sure you are going down the right path. It is never too late to change your mind, but it can get complicated. Good luck!
