Need urgent help: This year Applied for H1 through consultancy and current employer wants me to apply for L1

I am currently in INDIA, filed H1B through consultancy this year.

Now current employer is asking me to apply for L1B on urgent basis.

Urgently Need expert advice on the below points ::

Is it legal to apply L1B after filling for H1B application?In general how long it will take to process L1B ?What happens if H1B application selected in lottery while my L1B is in progress? Will L1B convert into H1B from Oct 1st automatically?is there any chances that both L1B and H1B get cancelled If i apply for L1 and H1b got selected in lottery.I heard from some people that I can hold H1B [if consultancy agrees] for one year [if not one year suggest max time to hold h1b ] and after that I can go for transfer from L1B to H1B … Is it correct?And please let me know if any points should be considered while L1 to H1B transfer.Many Thanks in advance.

Proceed further… go ahead and file for L1… if you get H1 approval you can change your status in October 2015.

Hi thank you so much for reply. if I get H1 do I need to change the status in October itself. … or I can wait for couple of months and do it … any constraint ?

you can wait till you join the new job… but it is advice join new employer as soon as possible after October
