I am going to file my H1b and i just got to know that my fathers last name in my passport is missing one alphabet in his last name. I dont have enough time to correct my passport. Please let me know will it effect my H1b processing ? any solutions ? urgent help needed.
Most likely you will be OK.
If you have time to go to a local notary service, have your father execute a self affidavit stating that the name(in your passport) is the name of his and it was due to a spelling mistake. Get it notarized, keep a copy and original with you. In the event the officer raises this as the deal breaker for your visa issuance, just tell him the story and show him the Affidavit(give him the copy and keep the original in your hand, if he want to cross check).
