Lost i797 Traveling to India and return back

Hello

I am writing this to get your options for my situation.

My company misplaced I797, I travelled to the USA with a soft copy. POE officer asked me to show the original and I told them what my company Immigration department asked me to say. Some how POE officer convinced and allowed me into USA. But he noted something on his screen.

My company filed for duplicate copy (4 months back) but we didn’t listen anything form USCIS (not even case/request Id)

Now, I am looking for options to coming back USA without original I797 or any options I can get new I797 without changing company. Can you please help me with options to get new I797?

H1B is an employer petition and so only employer can request a copy from USCIS. The employee is not required to have original even when going for visa interview or at port of entry.
