L2EAD to F1/CPT

Hi ,

I am currently on L2EAD , It is valid till Jan 2015. I filed for H1B this time, didnt get picked up in lottery.

I am planning to get F1/CPT and then file for H1B next year.

If I take admission in August 2015.

what is the processing time for getting F1/CPT. and during the time span of applying for F1/CPT and F1/CPT gets approved what will be my visa status?.

Does F1 and CPT (If i apply for F1/CPT) come together or there will be a time when I will be only on F1 with no CPT?.

Will I be eligeble to work then?.

Hello,

        I assume you are planning to take admission by August[b] 2014[/b].



        Yes, you can apply for COS from L2 to F1 status.



         It will take around 3-6 months to get F1 status.



         Till you get F1, you can stduy on your curent status L2.



         You can apply for CPT only once you get F1 status and not before that.



          Please note CPT is Curricular Practical Training (CPT) which is part of your study (F1).
