Is it possible to use the same F-1 validity 5 years , if I defer my admission ?

Hello Everyone ,

Recently my F1 visa has been aprooved. But due to some family resons not able to attend college in upcoming semester. my questions are as below

Will I be able to defer my admission for the same university for the fall semester ? how ?

Do I need to mention them that I have student visa and they have to provide me same sevis id etc. or college DSO makes it by self ?

If I will receive a new I-20 then it must have the same sevis id as in old one or New sevis id will be ok to the port of entry ?

university issues the I-20 spot after the defferal or they will mail me to wait until fall applications starts ?

You have the F-1 visa, which is great. However DSO must approve deferral and this letter must accompany your I-20. In the absence of a deferral, you are removed (failure to join as stipulated) from the SEVIS and SEVP databases and this information will show up on the CBP computer when you arrive at US port of entry. Be careful as this violation will result in ‘hold and deport’ action against you so the deferral letter is VERY important.
