Is it difficult to get H1B while on F1 (NO OPT)?

Hi,

I am a Phd student at a US University. I have been in US for 5 years (first Masters and then PhD). I recently renewed my F1 visa. Now, I want to find a part-time job and convert to H1B if possible. I want to do it without OPT (don’t want to wait for graduation) or CPT (99.99% confident that my advisor won’t sign on the CPT form).

I am not sure if it is possible to get H1B from F1 without OPT, because even if some employer gives me a job and ready to sponsor H1B, why would they want to wait 6 months for me to start work in October? I think people transferring from H4 to H1B are in the same boat as mine. Are there any people who have done something similar as I plan to do? What were your experiences? Please help.

Thank you.

Usually consulting companies are more open to file in April and then wait for 6 months. So you can approach them for the H-1 filing.
