Indian parent on US tourist visa traveling directly from Sydney to US

My mother (on an Indian passport) holds a valid multiple entry B2 visa (tourist visa) and is currently in Sydney (since last 3 months). Can she fly directly from Sydney and enter US? Or is it mandatory for her to enter US only from India and then return back to India (and no other country)?

It would be helpful if references on the same can be provided as well.

Thanks much!

A US visa is a global travel credential and not country specific. Your mom can travel from any country to the US without problems. Entry restrictions apply if she had an ‘S’ ‘single entry’ visa instead of ‘M’ on her tourist status. She also does not have to justify why she is in Sydney and not in India; this is a free world, she can travel anywhere she wants.

Best wishes
