Husband has lost his passport and F1 visa

I am planning to go for a F2 visa interview by end of this month. F1 (my husband ) is on OPT which is ending by june 2015. His visa is valid till 2017. But He recently lost his passport and visa in vegas. He applied and received new passport from indian embassy showing FIR and other stuff.

My questions are:

  1. if there is no visa stamp in his new passport, will it effect our visa approval. We have copies of old visa and all other imp docs.

  2. Seeing that there are around 8 months left for OPT, is it safe to apply for tourist visa. Problem with tourist visa is that our 2 1/2 year old kid will not be able to attend any play school or any other school.

  3. Can this affect his stay in USA

Thanks a lot

Theft is not a matter of concern. Digital I-94 and not stamped F-1 is proof of status. I don’t think you need to worry.
