H4 about to expire and H1B is under process

Hi Saurabh,

My current situation: H1B visa processing is under RFE response review (since last 60 days) and currently I am on a valid H4 visa status which will be expiring on 3rd Jan 2015.

Now, I am not very optimistic about any status change in the next 10-15 days for my H1B visa due to the X’mas holiday period (My assuption).

So in this case should I apply for my H4 visa extension? If yes then, is it too late for me to apply now and also will it have any effect on my H1B processing?

Also, what happens if I dont get either of the 2, (my visa extension or H1 B approval) by 3rd jan’15, so should I be be prepared with my return ticket also?
