Hi, My wife got 221g blue slipe yesterday from chennai consulate. They asked about her studies and work. She is not presently working. Resigned after marriage last dec. She has master in bio technology, and was working as a research assistant in a university. I am presently in US, and my visa expires this oct. Any idea how to proceed. She got a mail from US consulate to submit invitation letter and resume. Please help.
Its better to submit the requested documents to consulate. You visa validity also < 6months. So its a risky decision
we are planning to submit a cover letter… invitation letter from me, letter from my company…her resume…degree certificates. Planning to email them monday and also drop it as Kochi VFS office. Is it fine?. My company has agreed to extend my visa
Better to add previous 1 yr - 3yrs W-2 forms and Income Tax return documents as well. I hope you have already kept marriage certificate or relationship document between you too. Let me know for any other info.
Hi
I appeared for h4 Visa today and am in the same condition as your wife.
I also have a bachelors and masters in Biotechnology, and I guess this is because of the TAL!
I have also been asked to submit my resume and sponsor letter.
Please let me know if you have any updates in your case!
Thanks
Hi Gaya,
I would attending H1/H4 visa interview with my wife who is MSc Biotech. I assume that she might get a 221g based on her educational background. She had worked for around 4 months as a content analyst, not actually related to her education. she has then resigned and has been at home for more than 3 years post pregnancy.
Do you what kind of questions and documents would be part of 221g? Apart from educational certificates would they need any documents related to her previous employment
Ask ur wife to carry her latest CV with detailed explanation of her last research project.
Please ask ur wife to carry her resume and also details of any research that she did in the past. My case is different, coz I finished my masters in germany in 2012 and was working as a research asst till april this yr. I did not know I shud carry my cv for dependent visa interview. That was the hitch. Just ask ur wife to be explicit about her work. shud be fine.
Thank you so much…appreciate your advice…
Hello!
i have submitted all docs requested and am waiting for 2 weeks now! Has your wife received her visa?
After waiting for 4 weeks, my status updated date changed to 17 july 2014, and on 18 july 2014 my status changed to “issued”. Approximate span of time taken by the consulate in such cases seems to vary from 4-6 weeks.
Good luck with your visas!
Congrats gaya!
My wife is into the same boat.
We both appeared on the same day for the interview at Chennai, my H1 visa approved while she got the blue slip stating “Your visa application is pending administrative processing”. Not a single question asked about our relationship or our marriage to her. VO was only interested in her studies and details on her research work in masters. She is having masters in medical microbiology.
Later that evening she got an email from consulate asking to submit 1. Resume, 2. US Contact person, 3. Invitation Letter, 4. Travel history details.
We have send only the requested (nothing extra) details in email. We haven’t drop of any hard copy in vfs location, as the email clearly states to send it via email on 30th Jun.
So far no update on the status date or status itself. Passport is still with them.
Please let me know if you had just send the information through email? or submitted the hard copies at vfs location as well?
Did you send any additional information other than what has been asked for?
In the email that I received it was mentioned that I could just send the requested docs via email. I just sent the documents requested via email and waited. Good luck!!!
Finally she got it. Exciting time now!!
Finally it’s been changed to Issued status yesterday after 7 weeks of administrative pending stage and she is going to pickup the passport on coming Monday. Got an email too stating the collection center has received the passport from consulate.
