Im currently in India and ‘out of status’. I was on F1 OPT until last month. I have my consular processing H1B visa appointment in November (as that is the earliest that I could find) but my H1B has a start date of October 1.

Can I start working (remotely, from India) from October 1 on H1B even though my H1B visa appointment is in November?

Would the H1 class be ‘activated’ from October 1 even though my visa appointment is in November?

First of all, H1B status do not apply for people not present in the US. So if your employer is okay you can work remotely.

Not until you enter the US on H1B status.
