H1B transfer - Is H1B stamping in my passport required?

I started working on H1B from May 2013 and never got my H1B stamped in my passport or left/re-entered US. I have been working in US since then. Now I am planning to do a H1B transfer to another employer. Is H1B stamping in passport required to do a transfer as I still have H4 visa and its I-94 in my passport. Though in my H1B petition(Form I-797A) - bottom portion contains I-94 for Class H1B.

Is it possible to do a H1B transfer even if I dont have a H1B/I-94 stamp at all in my passport. Have other documents such as paystubs etc.

Thanks to redbus for clarifying many of my previous questions. They were extremely to me.

Any help here again is greatly appreciated :)

You can apply for transfer without a stamping in your passport. Assuming you maintained legal status throughout your stay in the US.

Thankyou for your response. When you say legal status are you referring to my work status. I got my H1B approved on April 8th 2013 and started working from May 29th 2013. Have all my payslips from May 29th 2013 till date. Have I maintained my legal status? - Thanks
