H1B Petition Approved - Can I transfer it to new employer?

Dear All,

My H1B petition was approved by USCIS on 10-Oct-2013 but I haven’t gone for the VISA interview till now. Currently my employer is not having any projects in US. Due to some personal reasons, I am planning to quit my job and join another company. In this case, can I transfer my approved petition to my new employer if my new employer is willing to do that.

Or is the decision with my current employer’s hand?

Please advice.

You can transfer your H1 to any US employer without your current employer knowledge. But you may need a copy of your H1 approval(I-797)
