H1B interview in Chennai and gave me Blue Slip

I had interview for H1B visa in Chennai on 24th Sept 2018. Interview lasted for 20 minutes. Initially they asked me questions regarding company like: who is your petitioner? What is company profile? what is your role? what is your salary? I answered all the above questions. Since I have also done Master’s in CS in united Sates, later she asked me about my education like: What is your highest degree? which University? where you on out of status anytime? Did you paid your Sevis fee? Then she asked me can I see your OPT documents.

I handed over all my I-20’s and OPT case number receipt form. Then later she gave me Blue form ticked with application refused for administrative processing and she said check this case number online to check your visa status. She took all my original I-20’s and passport and she never asked about my H1B documents at all. She also said you don’t need to come for an interview nor to give any documents.

  1. Does anyone was in similar situation?

  2. application refused for administrative processing, Does it mean Visa is refused?

  3. I read online forum about how many days it takes to process, So my question is Can I still work for my current company Off-shore on this status unless I get final decision?

Please Advise, I would really appreciate.

  1. Its the standard administrative processing, if your visa was rejected they would have given back your passport. There is nothing else you can do at this point in time, than to wait for the case status to be updated.

  2. Yes, you can certainly work off-shore, until you are back in USA.

I’m in the exact same boat since Sept 20, 2018. They said my case number for the H1B wasn’t coming up in their system. My planned travel is for Sept 30th so naturally I’m anxious af.

@ms05630 please share your experience if your status is updated. My status still shows in administrative processing.

Case status switched to issued today! This is the same 6 day wait the other similar case on the website had.
