H1B extension approved with a gap of 2 months between the new approved start date and old expiry date

My last H1-B was expired in July 09, 2015 for which we filed extension (on April 29 2015) & got extension approval on Sept 17, 2015. but new approval date start from Sept 17, 2015 to April 15, 2018.

So my question is that what was my status between July, 09 to Sept 16. Is there any problem with this when I will go for stamping or anything else you see.

this is absolutely fine. there should be no problem. for extensions, I-797 start date is usually the date it is approved and not the day after your previous i-797 last date.

I dont think it will creating any problem in future for stamping. Since you already filed extension in time, this period would fall under that. So dont worry on this.

Thanks for answering. Same time (with same file) my son & wife got extension on h4, but there approval date is correct which is July 10, 2015. But mine is Sept 17, 2015.

  1. If we all togather for stamping, can it cause any issue?
  2. Can it impact or raise any question if my GC process. If yes, at what stage?
