H1-B Extension Processing Query

Hi,

I am currently in US on H1-B visa and my H1-B(and my wife's H4) expires on 03/31/2014. My employer has send the documents for extension to vermont USCIS Center. They are scheduled to be delivered on 03/242014. Please advice on below:




	As soon as the documents are recieved, will a reciept number br generated and mailed back to employer?

	Will the reciept be generated before 03/31/2014, or they have any sorting/listing process which can delay the process?

	What is the expected processing time at Vermont center? How long does it normally take to approve extension application?

	To Reconfirm, Can I (and for what period) legally stay in US, with the reciept number?. Please note, my I-94 also expires with my visa on 03/31/2014.

If your case is being filed under premium processing you should expect your attorney to get the reciept number via email within couple of days time. If it is filed under regular processing you can expect it to be recieved within 2-3 weeks via regular mail. I think you can stay here based on pending application, but it is best to confirm this with yout attorney.
