Fourth time REJECTION - How many times is ENOUGH?

Dear Readers,

I am posting this here because it is happening to an applicant. All he wants to do is come to the USA; study, make a life for himself and hold out hope for his family. The problem - he is 22 years old with not much to show for in terms of finances or great speaking skills. In other words, he is very ordinary. What is extraordinary about him is his dream and will power. He has been rejected 4 times for an F-1 visa in past 3 weeks. What happens next? After 4 rejections, it is no longer between the student and the embassy. It is a personal argument now between a university who has accepted him and the embassy that is preventing the student access. Since when does a security guard, a gatekeeper sitting across a numbered counter have so much powers? The answer is - they do not. The battle continues as the University supplies document after document to support the interview. Will the student give up? No. Will the student be asked to apply in another visa category? No. Will the University give up? No. Stay tuned to see what happens next week in the life of this very ordinary child from an ordinary middle class family with extraordinary ambition. If you read this post, pray for him. It will empower him a lot.

Depends on what reason they gave him for the rejection. At least he needs to show that he has enough money to finance his education.

Good question and 4 times rejection does give plenty of analysis opportunity. I have looked at comments on the interview in the Department of State website. Each time the note says ‘intent to return path not established’. We do wonder at times on which factor has most weight in an approval, such cases make things a bit clearer but not a whole lot.

Twice, his supporting documents were not looked at despite plenty of color and pretty fonts. They did not care which university or the bank funds availability. A narrow focused look at just passport and I-20, plenty of typing and finally ’ sorry, please apply again’
