Employment start extension after H1-B approval

I have got my H1-B approval for year 2014. But the employment start date is 1 Oct 2013.

Is it okie to join in January 2014. What kind of additional documents I would need to produce at US immigration. Would I need to notify Dept. of Homeland Security of employment date change?

You can start working from Jan 2014. DHS comes into play only when you enter US.

Thats the concern. Does DHS present any particular problems, or would I need to produce special documents besides employer’s letter

As long as your employer letter says your intended employment start date is Jan 2014, you are fine.
