Can you apply L1B extension with H1B visa application for same employee

Hello,

My L1B visa will be expire in Jun-14, and my compnay has plan to apply for an extension (15 days before it’s expire). looking at the current rejection rate. I’ve following questions

  1. Is possible to apply for H1B visa (2014) along with L1B extension application (since L1B will expire on Jun-14) for the same employee?

  2. What is the other alternative without leaving the country, or a short time out from the country.
