Please help me clear this confusion about amendment in COS start date .
I am currently working on L1 visa. I have to go to India in Sep. Earliest, I can come back is on Sep 24.
I got my H1B approved with COS start date as Oct 1 2013. I have to travel back on L1 and then resign my current job. In that case it is not possible for me to start on H1-b on 1 oct.
Please let me know if it is possible to change the H1-B start date( on the same application) and what is the fees. My new employer is charging $4000 ( like new application). Please reply.
You are expected to join H-1 employer from Oct 1. If you want to join at a later date, then you can return to US after Oct 1 on L-1. This way your status will remain L-1. You can then put-in your papers and move to H-1 by either:

returning on stamped H-1 visa

filing COS from L-1 to H-1. This will cost around $325.00 plus attorney fees. It is not same as a new petition fees
