Can Passport Renewal and Amendment/Extension be done at the same time?

I am holding H1b via with expiry date of August 16th 2017 and my passport also going to expire on the same date.Now i have to change the project,so i need to apply for Amendment and Extension also immediately.

Can Passport Renewal and H1b amendment & extension be done in parallel?

Once the passport is renewed, you can apply for extension with new passport details…
