Hi. I am on H4 visa, recently got H1b approval(approval notice on Jan 30, 2014). I would like to know on whether I can go to India on H4 visa in April month and then change the status for H1B or join the job after that? If so, do I need to go to India US Consulate for changing my status?

U can stay in US and apply COS and start working after getting approval…
If U r going to India, U must go for stamping to nearest consulate n can enter US on H1do not travel. Your COS will be abondened. that means your H1 may be approved ,but your visa will not be changed to H1 . You need to go to out of country to get H1 stamped.
