Can I travel outside USA just after H1B gets filing?

Hi,

I am currently working in X company in USA on OPT status.

  1. My OPT ends on June 20 2017.

  2. My Company is going to file H1B in April 2017.

  3. I can apply OPT extension from March 20 2017.

Questions:

  1. What should be SAFE return date to USA if I travel outside USA in FEB 2017 ?

  2. is it true that one should not travel outside USA for 6 months starting from H1B filing date?
