Can I schedule a new in person interview instead of following up on 221g

I have got a 221g on my in person interview on my trip to India, asking for additional documents. The mail process of sending documents will take some time, I am expecting more than a month, with the year end vacations starting. Can I schedule a new in-person interview instead? Will this affect me negatively?

This has been done before. It will not affect you negatively. However, you will trigger another 221g
