I am planning for masters in 2016-2018. I wanna know the risk i am taking in pursuing my masters as i am spending in dollars.Also, want to know the chances of getting selected in 20000 quota after my masters.
They don’t release the number of Masters applicants so its hard to tell. But you do get in the lottery twice with your masters- once for the 20k, once for the general pool. Also you can keep working on OPT with the 17 month extention for 29 months. So you have multiple opportunities in the lottery. And there is talk of extending this even more. Of course you’ll read online about the few unlucky ones who got rejected twice or others who forgot to file their extension in time. But unless you have terrible luck, most prepared masters students do get through.
