Administrative processing since 10 days - no slip was given during visa interview

Hello,

My H1B visa interview was on 30th December 2014. The visa officer asked couple of basic questions and took my passport saying my visa is approved. It has been 10 days and the status is shown as ‘administrative processing’. I emailed the US consulate and this is the reply I got.

"Your case is under processing. This processing is mandatory and cannot be expedited. We are unable to continue with your case until the processing is completed.

You can check the status of your case by visiting our website at ceac.state.gov and type in your case number. The website is updated regularly to reflect the most recent status of your case. Unfortunately, we cannot give a specific time frame during which processing will be completed, as each case is different and may require different processing than another case that may appear similar. While we recognize how frustrating these delays can be for applicants, please be assured we process each case as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

Consular Analysis and Liaison Unit
U.S. Consulate General
Hyderabad, India"

Is this 221G or normal processing that is done before every visa is issued? Does anyone know of any case where it has gone into 221G after the visa officer said that the visa is approved? I would greatly appreciate if anyone sheds some light on this.
