Hi,

I went for my interview at the joburg consulate this morning. The VO asked me all the standard questions like work profile, salary, place of work etc and then he gave me a 221g green slip writing down a list of documents that I need to collect from my employer and come back any day for the interview again.

Then he called me after I left the consulate and gave me a list of a few more documents needed.

documents he asked for are:

Wage reports of past three years

tax returns of past three years

list of employees, their salaries and their statuses in the US

Copy of contracts with their clients

What do you think my chances are of getting the approval? Any ideas on the processing time after I go back for the interview?

Chances vary from case to case and depend upon the submitted documents. Processing time also varies - some cases are completed within few weeks of documents submission, while others take several months.

Whats the update on this?Same thing happened with me.Please update the forum when you get a response.

I am given a blue slip 221g but not told to produce any documents as of now.It just says my case has to undergo some admin processing.
Even I have attended this interview in Johannasburg.

What was the processing period for you, seems its been an year,So thank you to please update the processing time

Same thing happened to me, they gave me 221 g green slip but did not asked any documents. could you please update what happened for you at that stage.

Hello Venky,
Is it better to get H1 stamped from Johannesburg or India. Since I work in Johannesburg on a work visa. Also usually how much time it takes to get the visa stamped if given a 221g green slip?

Hi Kiran, I can tell my experience. once I got 221g green slip, they did not ask me any documents. after 5 months, They called me one day and asked to submit the passport. They stamped it and return the passport in 4 days. It varies case by case, some of them in JHB got their visa immediately and some waited from a month to 3 years also.
